DizRec Institute Launches as Research Arm of Transparent Relief Foundation
The Transparent Relief Foundation announced today the launch of the Disaster Resilience Coordination Institute (DizRec), a dedicated research center focused on improving coordination, transparency, and effectiveness in disaster response.
“Disaster relief organizations do heroic work under impossible conditions,” said the Foundation’s Executive Director. “But too often, coordination failures and accountability gaps undermine that work. DizRec will produce the research and frameworks needed to address these systemic challenges.”
Mission and Focus
DizRec will conduct interdisciplinary research across four primary areas:
- Multi-Agency Coordination: Developing frameworks for effective coordination among diverse relief organizations
- Transparency and Accountability: Creating systems for transparent fund tracking and organizational accountability
- Technology Applications: Evaluating and developing appropriate technology for disaster response
- Economic Analysis: Measuring economic flows and identifying opportunities for improved efficiency
Initial Projects
The Institute launches with several projects already underway:
- Development of coordination protocols for Caribbean hurricane response
- Pilot implementation of end-to-end donation tracking systems
- Analysis of economic leakage in major disaster responses
Team
DizRec brings together researchers with backgrounds in humanitarian operations, economics, information systems, and organizational studies. The Institute will also maintain visiting researcher and fellowship programs.
